Daikin Announces $5 Million Expansion
On August 30, 2017, Daikin America announced a $5 million expansion at their State Docks Road site. This expansion will create nine new jobs with an estimated annual pay of $73,780.00 per employee, before benefits. In this new facility, Daikin will install a process for the blending of refrigerant components to produce refrigerant blends. These new blends will have a lower global warming impact and they will be a safer alternative to other available refrigerants.
Since locating in Morgan County in 1991, Daikin America has invested over $310 million dollars and they are one of the largest industrial employers in Morgan County with over 370 employees. Daikin is committed to our community which is evident through their Annual Daikin America Festival, monetary donations such as their recent $100,000 donations to Morgan County’s Sparkman Elementary School for a special needs playground and the Princess Theater for renovations, and their involvement in many organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and United Way. Senator Arthur Orr, Chairman of the Morgan County Economic Development Association’s Board of Directors, said, “We are grateful for Daikin's continued vote of confidence in the workforce of Decatur Morgan County. They are a model corporate citizen that gives back to the quality of life of the area to the benefit of all those who live here.”
